Putney Listed External Renovation
A highly sympathetic external renovation of a Grade II listed property, featuring bespoke façade rendering, frameless glass balustrades, and precision terrace paving.
We delivered a highly technical, sympathetic design-and-build external renovation to this Grade II listed property in Putney. Operating under strict conservation parameters, our scope encompassed rigorous façade rendering, comprehensive exterior painting, and historic decoration. To modernise the usability of the property without compromising its heritage profile, we installed a minimal, frameless glass balustrade to the upper roof terrace, instantly unlocking uninterrupted views. Simultaneously, we executed a complete replacement of the terrace paving to significantly improve structural drainage and long-term weather longevity. All details were meticulously coordinated to meet specialised listed-building requirements, employing careful substrate preparation and breathable heritage finishes to protect the historic fabric. The final result is a dramatically crisper, cleaner elevation that respects the building's legacy while vastly improving its day-to-day performance and aesthetic power.
The Challenge
Navigating the incredibly strict materials and aesthetic demands of a Grade II listed building consent while attempting to integrate modern, frameless glass architecture.
Our Solution
Our dedicated architectural consultants worked hand-in-hand with the local conservation officers. By specifying ultra-low iron glass and employing zero-visibility structural channels, we satisfied the modern functional brief while adhering to the historic preservation mandate.
